The Midland Thorn

Midland Thorn - Craetaegus laevigata.  Also known as the Two Styled Thorn (Craetaegus oxyacantha) and of the family - Rosaceae.  It is also related in species to the Crataegus monygna, or common Hawthorn which is a closely related native tree.

There is a red flowering Hawthorn that is grown in gardens
that is derived from Midland Thorn.

It is a British native tree with a natural native distribution that does not include Euxton and Lancashire.

The Midland Thorn is a small deciduous shrub or tree with red flowers. The tree or shrub may have single trunk, and grows to a height of about 10m maximum.

Its habitat is mainly on heavy soils, with a natural native distribution throughout the south and east of England.

The Midland Thorn is propagation and grown from its seed.
