Here's my Mum with 3 of her 5 siblings, these 3 are the "babies" of Armetriding farm. It was living at Armetriding Farm (possibly the second oldest building in Euxton), that made Mum the renowned cook that she was. The farm with its mystique, its isolation, its history, its beauty, its architecture, its people, the mill, the river, Chapel, valley, the distant church bells, neighbours, adjacent farms, nearby cottages, its ghost visits, all these things played a part in making "my Mum", a great cook! I reckon it was Mum's weekends of cooking and baking, that kept the ramblers and historical associations calling in for their tea, sandwiches and scones, as they wandered around the ancient village, picking up historical tit-bits from folk such as my Mum.
