Be Positive! Do not Worry. Every day we "all" face the challenge of mistakes, defeats, successes and victories. It is how we deal with any of them, (both plus and minus issues) is how we can face the rest of this day and tomorrow. Believing that God can help and is willing to help, will make a great difference to how you handle difficult situations. The friends and family we may or may not have, does not exclude us from having a daily working relationship with God. However, like all relationships we must activate them, work on them, work together with the other partner. Starting to work on the relationship right now is the vital issue, for tomorrow never comes. Here is a simple prayer you can use to start your day with: "Lord, you gave me this day. I didn't ask for it, but I was glad to have it. I did the best I could with it and you helped me, and I thank you. I made some mistakes. That was when I didn't follow your advice, and I am sorry about that. Forgive me. But I had some victories and some successes, too, and I am grateful for your guidance. But now, Lord, mistakes or successes, victories or defeats, the day is over and I'm through with it, so I'm giving it back to you. Thank you, Amen." Try going through this list of positive steps, daily for one week: 1. Say aloud to yourself: "Worry is just a bad habit. I can change any habit with God's help." 2. We only become a worrier by practising worry. You can become free of worry by practising the opposite and stronger habit of faith. With all the strength and perseverance you can command, start practising faith. 3. How do you practise faith? Every morning say out loud, "I believe." Say it three times. 4. Pray, using this formula: "I place this day in the Lord's hands. Whatever happens, if 1 am in the Lord's hands it is the Lord's will and it is good." 5. Practise saying something positive concerning everything. Do not talk negatively. Do not say, "This day's going to be tough." Say, "I am going to enjoy this day." Do not say, "I will never be able to do what 1 have to do today." Say, "With God's help 1 can do it." 6. Avoid taking part in a worry conversation. A group of people talking pessimistically can infect every person in the group. By talking things up rather than down you can drive away that depressing atmosphere and make everybody else feel hopeful and happy. 7. Cultivate friendships with hopeful people. 8. Every day conceive of yourself as living in partnership and companionship with God. Imagine Him walking by your side and saying, "I am with you always." Believe that you will never worry or be afraid. Do it now! |
